This amulet of Buddha Images for Each Day of the Week is released from Wat Intharaviharn temple in Bangkok, also called Wat Inn, of the late Ayutthaya Kingdom, when it was called Wat Bang Khunphrom Nok for the name of the suburb where it is located. The temple is at the northern edge of the Banglamphu area of Phra Nakhon, Bangkok.
The royal temple, categorized as Class III, was built at the beginning of the Ayutthaya Kingdom and was originally called Wat Rai Phrik, a "Vegetable farms temple." It was so named as vegetable farms surrounded it. The land where the temple is situated was provided by King Rama I to accommodate prisoners of war.
During King Vajiravudh, it was refurbished by Chao Intharwong; after that, it was known as Wat Intharavihan. This amulet can be obtained only at the temple grounds at the Wat Inn amulet counter. This Buddha Birth Day amulet does not come with the original temple box. It is inserted in a clear transparent plastic bag.
Buddha images represent moments in the Buddha's life. Thai people always respect the Buddha images that match their day of birth. To check your delivery day, please click here to use the Calendar Conversion tool.
Sunday Buddha – Phra Tawai Buddha
The Day of Restraint
The enlightened Buddha stands with their hands crossed over his abdomen (his right hand over the left). The Buddha contemplates his achievement of complete knowledge under the Bodhi tree. After enlightenment, the Buddha stood still for seven days under the Bodhi Tree without blinking an eye to contemplate the suffering of all living things. He was tempted to enter Nirvana at once (by Mara), but he wants others to know the true doctrine and resolves to communicate his philosophy.
The posture of the Buddha is known as "Eyes Giving." This amulet can be a special gift to show your loved one how much you care. It is believed that a person born on Sunday who worships or wears the statue of this Buddha will be happy, lucky, peaceful, and prosperous.
