This amulet of Buddha Images for Each Day of the Week is released from Wat Intharaviharn temple in Bangkok, also called Wat Inn, of the late Ayutthaya Kingdom, when it was called Wat Bang Khunphrom Nok for the name of the suburb where it is located. The temple is at the northern edge of the Banglamphu area of Phra Nakhon, Bangkok. The royal temple, categorized as Class III, was built at the beginning of the Ayutthaya Kingdom and was originally called Wat Rai Phrik, a "Vegetable farms temple." 

 

It was so named as vegetable farms surrounded it. The land where the temple is situated was provided by King Rama I to accommodate prisoners of war. During King Vajiravudh, it was refurbished by Chao Intharwong; after that, it was known as Wat Intharavihan. This amulet can be obtained only at the temple grounds at the Wat Inn amulet counter. This Buddha Birth Day amulet does not come with the original temple box. It is inserted in a clear transparent plastic bag.

The Saturday Buddha is represented in a full lotus position amid meditation under the protection of the Naga Muchalinda. It is said that the pose reflects a time following enlightenment when the Naga King protected a meditating Buddha against exposure to heavy rainfall by using his multi-headed hood for shelter while lifting him above flooded waters using his body.

 

The posture of the Buddha is known as “Protected by Naga King.” This amulet can be a special gift to show your loved one how much you care. A person born on Saturday to worship the Buddha in this position is believed to be happy, lucky, peaceful, and prosperous.
