One of the most popular monks with an ability to create sacred amulets is Luang Phor Koon (LP Koon) of Wat Ban Rai, Regarded as the most renowned living guru monk with "magical powers", LP Koon has been asked to bless countless amulets over the past six decades. LP Koon has been praised for his great compassion. He once said he knew full well that amulet-making was against Buddha's teachings, but as his intention was purely for the good of the people, he found it worth doing. He only hopes that those who get the benefits from his amulets would feel grateful to the religion and finally turn to practice dharma. This incident happened in 1992, a student named Mak complained to his teacher that he was robbed by a student from the neighboring school. So, the teacher went to the school to report the incident and ask the authority to follow up the case. Mak thought the case was settled after the report. But one day, unexpectedly while he was driving his motorcycle home from school, somebody behind shouted at him and he heard the bangs of the gun as he turned to the back. The bad student was holding a gun and shot at him at a short distance. There were 3 holes on his school uniform but the bullets only shot onto his skin surface. Immediately, he rushed to the hospital, the doctor washed his wounds and said that he did not need to stay at the hospital. After the incident, Mak went to thanks LP Koon for his amulets (which he wore 3 pieces) and takrut that saved his life.
In 1993, a hostel in the tourist area in Thailand suddenly collapsed and caused many deaths. Rescuers had been searching for survivors for three days and three nights. When they thought there no more survivors, suddenly they heard a strange sound. So, they started to dig to find out where the sound came from. To their surprise, they found a woman was still alive 20 meter down under the building. According to the woman statement, she was unconscious after the building collapsed she was unable to made a sound to call for help. When she was asked why she was still alive, she responded that she believed it was LP Koon amulet that she wore that saved her life.
LP Koon amulets are made using the Buddha image, and image of a famous monk, or even his own image to make the amulets. Amulets vary in shape, and materials such as clay, bone, wood, or metal.
