This amulet was released by Luang Phor Jaran (LP Jaran) of the Wat Amphawan temple. Singburi Province is one of Thailand's most well-known Buddhist monks on the imparting of Vipassana Meditation. He was born in 1928. LP Jaran lived with his grandmother when he was a child, and he had to wake up early every morning to listen to his grandmother's chanting morning prayer for an hour. After that, he had to help his grandmother prepare food for the monks and collect vegetables and fruits for his mother to take to the market for sale before going to school.
LP Jaran is an outstanding student in both worldly and religious matters. This also gave him determination and commitment to his studies. LP Jaran was ordained as a monk at the youth age of 20 in late 1948 at a Wat Promburi temple in Singburi Province, with Chao Khun Promnagara as a preceptor, and his Kammava was Phra Khru Thavornviriya of Wat Buddharama temple. Later, LP Jaran wandered Thudong as a forest monk in Northern Thailand, searching for seclusion and suitable places to develop meditation practices among forests and mountains.
He studied and exchanged ideas about psychology with Archan Colonel Chom Sugandharat. In his younger days, he learned 'Wicha' from several prominent Buddhist masters in an old traditional way. LP Jaran learned deep meditation under the guidance of LP Doem of Wat Nong Pho temple. He also learned how to interact with elephants from this master. In 1957, at 29, LP Jaran took on the position as the Abbot of Wat Ambavana temple and has steadily conducted a program of developments and improvements, internally and externally, bringing the monastery to greater prosperity.
LP Jaran seldom consecrated amulets as he wanted his devotees to practice meditation. However, the temple only comes out with a few numbers of charms except for fundraising and other temple purposes. His life and works are objects of faith and inspiration for people everywhere. LP Jaran passed peacefully on 25 January 2016 at 87 in Siriraj Hospital (Bangkok).
