Luang Phor Kambu released this Phra Kring Buddha (The Medicine Buddha) amulet from Wat Gut Chompoo temple in Ubon Ratchathani Province. The Medicine Buddha is a small and unique Buddha image that produces a ringing sound when shaken. It is created to embody Buddha's seated position, which is highly relevant to Buddhist tradition, artistry, and legend. In the old times, the Phra Kring amulet was known or called "Click," it's assumed that this name originated from the sound that the charm produces when shaken because of the round ball inside the amulet.
According to academic studies and evidence, it is generally believed that the Phra Kring originated in China. With regards to the meaning of the word "Kring." It is known from the old Mahayana manuscripts and the literary work of Krom Phrayadam Rongraja Nuphap. The Thai name Phra Kring means Ringing Buddha. The word "Kring" is pronounced similarly to the English "Ring," both are approximately the exact sound of a ringing bell. The Patriarch Pae of Wat Suthat stated that "Kring" came from "Kue Kusalo," meaning Nirvana. Phra Kring amulet has many different beliefs and why it was created.
In the past, it was believed to be designed to make merit. The round ball inside the amulet was to bring mindfulness of several essential characteristics of the Buddha, including weakness and suffering. Phra Kring Buddha amulet was initially named "Phaisachayakuru," an image popular with the Mahayana sect of Buddhism closely associated with remedial water and medicines. It is highly revered for its ability to cure and prevent illness, heal, and protect the bearer from harm and misfortunes. It is believed that the bearer of Phra Kring is protected by the fortress of Buddhas, Dhamma, and Sanghas (all the Arahants).
