The Legend of the Tiger-Faced Lersi.
Phra Lersi Na Seua, originally known as "Lersi Galasit," was a hermit with immense ascetic power (Taba).
According to legend, a mischievous hermit known as the "Monkey-Faced Lersi" (Lersi Uttari) challenged him to display his supernatural powers. Lersi Galasit accepted the challenge to transform his head into that of a tiger. Before the transformation, he prepared a bowl of Holy Water to use afterwards to wash his face and return to his human form.
However, out of jealousy or playfulness, once Lersi Galasit transformed into the tiger face, the Monkey-Faced Lersi poured the Holy Water away. Without the water, Lersi Galasit could not transform back and remained with the face of a tiger forever.
