Wat Phra Kaew temple released this Phra Kaew Buddha (The Emerald Buddha) amulet in Bangkok. According to Buddhist legend, the gods created the Emerald Buddha as a gift for a revered monk from Patalibutra city (today's Patna) in what is now part of northern India. This venerable monk had the help of the Hindu gods Lord Vishnu and Demigod Indra, the god of the heavens. The Emerald Buddha image was made 500 years after the Buddha attained Nirvana. He was said to have been predicted. The Emerald Buddha is adorned with three sets of gold seasonal costumes: one for the summer, one for the rainy season, and the third for the winter.
Historical sources indicate a statue in northern Thailand in the Na Kingdom in 1434. The myth tells the story of one discovery that lightning struck a Chedi in Wat Pa Yia, a (Bamboo Forest Monastery) in the Chang Rai Province, Thailand, later renamed Wat Phra Kaew, revealing a Buddha covered in a cement wall. The Buddha was then placed in the abbot's residence, who later noticed that the cement had flaked off and revealed a green interior. The abbot removed the glue and found a Buddha statue carved from a precious green stone, Phra Kaew or the Emerald Buddha in English. The use of emerald (Kaew) is referred to as the "green colour" of the statue in Thai.
The Emerald Buddha is an image of the meditating Gautama Buddha seated in the lotus, with a green colour and clothed in gold. The idea is considered the sacred palladium of Thailand. Emerald Buddha enhances the prosperity of life with Buddhist mindfulness. The Emerald Buddha is a protective deity. Thai people and many Asian people believe Thai amulets have the power of attraction, luck, fortune, and charm, and they protect the wearer from danger and change terrible things for good. Suitable for giving as an auspicious gift to essential people on various occasions or as a gift for someone special in your life.
